Dancing in the Streets: Saturday September 27 at 2:30, 4:00, and 4:30. Midwest Dance Theatre will perform outdoors in the Grand Center Arts & Entertainment District. They will perform Primitive Truth, a fierce energetic contemporary pointe number. Two of our lovely classical ballet solos were chosen as well. Grand Pas Classique variation performed by Josie Green and Woodland Glade Fairy variation performed by Isabelle Duplantier. This is a free performance.
Youth America Grand Prix ballet Competition: February 13-15 in Chicago IL. YAGP is the only student ballet competition in America which awards scholarships to the leading dance schools in the US and abroad. It is a great stepping stone to a professional career. Each of our Sr. company members have the opportunity to perform and compete in contemporary and classical ballet variations. They receive professional coaching by Donna Patzius-Hill (MDT artistic director and former member of Ballet West, Atlanta Ballet, and BalletMet). The opportunity to be professionally coached expands the students experience level dramatically. Each solo is adjudicated by the outstanding world-renowned staff of YAGP.
Multiple Sclerosis Benefit Performance: COCA Theater date TBA, tickets $40. This is a wonderful opportunity for our company members to contribute to their community. Hosted by Barbara Green, this event raised nearly $40,000.00 for the West County MS Center last year. There will be a wine & cheese reception featuring a silent but exclusive auction, followed by a benefit dance performance featuring Midwest Dance Theatre. This year MDT will perform A Midsummer Fairy, (a classical story ballet), the Passion( a dramatic contemporary ballet), and excerpts from Swan Lake, Harlequinade, Don Quixote, La Fille Mal Gardee and Corsaire.
National Dance Week: Union Station on April 25. A chance for our company to perform with 49 other dance groups in the community. Sponsored by St. Louis Union Station. This is a free performance.
St. Louis Festival: Edison Theater May 2-3. Hosted by Dr. Prem (Dances of India). Two evenings of great dance by MDT and many other companies in the community. MDT will perform a premier TBA, tickets $20.
The Annual Spring Showcase: Clayton High School on June 14 at 2:00 and 6:00. This is a performance for the whole school. All students of Patzius Performing Arts will have the opportunity to show off what they have learned this year. Call for ticket information.
